Paleo Diet 101

Well in basic terms you are trying to simulate the diet that your body evolved to have. So you can eat only things that would have been available back in the day when fire was considered a brand new invention. Those that came up with this diet in the 1970’s claim that there is a current genetic incompatibility  between what we have evolved to eat, and what we are currently eating. Especially now when you have access to food from across the planet in a few moments. So by going back to our initial diet we eliminate this genetic discomfort and resume our once healthy life style.
Current diets focus too much on establishing your caloric intake. So every time you have a meal or snack, you have to calculate and count every calorie you ingested. And to make matters even worse, calories from different foods have different effects. Nobody can say that 300 calories from burgers are the same thing as 300 calories from freshly cooked meals at home, using good ingredients and vegetables.

So when the initial thrill of going on a diet wears off, people quickly grow bored with counting calories. This is one of the primary attractions of the paleo diet, the fact that calorie counting stops. However it will be necessary to remove some food items from your diet,  but it will still remain a satisfying and pleasurable experience.

What I mean by pleasurable is that by preparing some easy paleo recipes you can eat as much as you want, even until you are full, without having to worry about gaining weight. Also this diet is great for those that have intense workout regimes seeing as it promotes physical stamina and muscle growth.

We have to understand that all these differences are purely environmental seeing as we haven’t changed genetically since then. You owe it to yourself to go out and try some paleo breakfast recipes and some paleo dessert recipes and see if this diet can make changes in your life, just as it did in the lives of countless other people.

Just look at a side by side comparison of our ancestors, and a modern man. Physically the changes are radical. The homo sapiens back then used to be more muscular, while still being slender, resistant to the environment and diseases. Now we are overweight, and far less healthy. Of course we live longer because we use our advanced medical knowledge to save everyone, but diseases that would have not affected our ancestors (autoimmune for example) are killing thousands of us.

Allot of the people that try paleo breakfast recipes end up getting hooked for life because of the massive benefits it offers. And I know that all diets promise outstanding results and fail to deliver, but this one’s got some actual science behind it.
